The Story Behind the Build
This contemporary duplex in the established neighbourhood of RS Puram was designed for a multigenerational family seeking modern living with traditional values. The ground floor caters to the senior couple with accessible design, while the upper duplex offers a vibrant family space with double-height living and a private terrace garden. United by a stunning central staircase, the home tells a story of family, function, and architectural beauty.
Client Requirement
A multigenerational family needed separate but connected living spaces across two floors. The design had to be elder-friendly on the ground floor, child-safe throughout, and include a double-height living room, home office, and terrace garden.
Challenges Faced
Balancing privacy between two units while maintaining a sense of unity was the primary design challenge. The 30×40 plot had limited road-facing width, requiring creative fenestration for natural light and ventilation.
The Outcome
A harmonious duplex that celebrates togetherness while respecting individual space. The central atrium staircase floods both levels with natural light, and the rooftop garden has become the family's favourite gathering space.
